About channel Italia 1

Italia 1 is a private generalist Italian television channel with a youth target, broadcast nationally and edited by Mediaset, a company that bought the channel in December 1982 from Rusconi, who launched it on January 3 of the same year.

Starting from 3 February 2004, the channel can also be viewed free of charge on digital terrestrial in the areas covered by the Dfree mux[47], subsequently moving to the Mediaset 2 multiplex (then called Mediaset B) and later, also to Mediaset 4. From 26 November 2010 was also present in the areas covered by the Mediaset 6 mux through the one-hour delayed version Italia 1 +1, transferred from 11 July 2011 to the Mediaset 5 mux and from 1 August 2011 visible exclusively in Sardinia.

Since the end of July 2011 the high definition channel had been activated again on the Mediaset 6 mux and was visible exclusively in Sardinia, while from 28 August 2012 it was visible on Mediaset 2 throughout Italy; the first native events were the UEFA Super Cup, some films including Batman Begins, A Song for You, The Dark Knight and Freaking Day in New York and the TV series Glee and Young Champions, as well as some bumpers and some commercials.< /p>

Those who own a set-top box or a television with MHP (Multimedia Home Platform) technology can use the interactive functions included in the broadcaster's signal (interactive TV), called Italia 1 Plus; for a short time in the summer of 2006 Italia 1 Plus broadcast Lost Universe, Visitors and the Buffy the Vampire Slayer series in prime time on Italia 1 from 9pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, without commercials.

On April 9, 2009, with the television series Smallville, for the first time in the history of Mediaset generalist channels, an event was broadcast entirely in 16:9 format; broadcasts in the new format take place exclusively on digital terrestrial television. From 1 November of the same year, the advertising spaces, promos and bumpers of the Mediaset networks were also broadcast in 16:9. Furthermore, from 21 June 2011, the network news, Studio Aperto, also switches to the 16:9 format.

Via satellite it is not possible to use the original language, a feature expected on the second audio track of digital terrestrial.
