About channel Canal 2

Canal 2 (previously called 2 Plus) is a private television channel from the Republic of Moldova, which belongs to businessman Vlad Plahotniuc. It was launched on November 21, 2007, when CCA withdrew the broadcast license of the Romanian public television station TVR1, on the grounds that it had not paid the fees related to the retransmission equipment.

In the beginning, it rebroadcast the Romanian television station Antena International, after which it transmitted 70% of its own shows, leaving the 30% to the Romanian television station Antena 1. Starting from November 10, 2010, it began to broadcast free of charge on its TVR1 frequencies, citing this fact by the necessity of Bessarabians to have a quality Romanian television at home. Thus, a headquarters of the Romanian Television was opened in Chisinau, which will provide local news on both banks of the Prut. In the future, mutual collaboration is planned for the launch of programs of common interest. Currently 2Plus transmits only local advertising (10% of the broadcasts), the rest being intended for TVR1 broadcasts. From the second half of 2011, this channel started broadcasting Latin soap operas.

In the summer of 2014, the station underwent a rebrand, becoming Canal 2 as a station for women.
